Fraser Elementary School is once again participating in the Ben Stelter School Fundraiser’s fall program after an immensely successful 2025 season.
The small and young student body managed to raise over $7500 for Proton Beam Therapy in Canada during the previous school year’s fundraising efforts.
Additionally, Fraser impressively ranked 5th out of 50 participating schools, many of which were junior high or high schools.
Carol Mott, teacher organizer of Fraser’s 2025 fundraiser, says that the decision to support the BSSF was made in hopes of teaching young students they are capable of creating change.
“As a school, we wanted our students to understand that even young children can make a difference. Supporting the BSSF gave us an opportunity to teach compassion, empathy, and community while honouring Ben’s incredible legacy.”
“The most meaningful part was watching our students realize that they truly had the power to help others,” Mott added. “They may be young, but they embraced the fundraiser with enormous hearts.
Mott additionally commented on the success that arose despite the small and young student body.
“Although Fraser is a small school with very young students, our size became one of our greatest strengths. Everyone knew they had an important role to play, and there was a genuine sense of teamwork throughout the fundraiser.”
She added that they kept their fundraising events “small but mighty”, prioritizing passion over size.
“We focused on having fundraisers that cost us nothing so every dollar donated went straight to the cause and not reimbursing anyone.”
BSSF’s Founder and Director, Aariz Mawji, attended Fraser School’s 2025 fundraising assembly. He shares the dedicated nature of the school community.
“The student and teacher community of Fraser School was one of the most passionate communities I’ve seen in the fundraiser,” says Mawji. “The kids were so excited and had so much passion for the cause.
Fraser School’s passionate and driven student body will certainly once again make an impact in the 2026 fundraising season, proving the capability of young people in bringing meaningful change.
