While the Ben Stelter School Fundraiser has primarily functioned through school-wide efforts, the organization has created opportunities for those wanting to get involved on an individual level.
The BSSF’s Individual Fundraiser Program is a chance for kids aged under 18 to carry out an individual endeavor for the cause. Individuals who raise $100 or more will have a chance to meet Connor McDavid at the BSSF’s McDavid assembly in January 2027.
The top 3 Fundraisers will also receive a puck signed by the star player.
“For years we’ve been running multi-school fundraisers,” says Aariz Mawji, Founder and Director of the BSSF. “The individual fundraising program is important for us because it offers us a chance to learn more outside the school fundraiser space and expand our program to new heights, while still keeping the fundraiser student-led and student-driven.”
Numerous options exist for Individual Fundraiser approaches.
Ben’s Birthday Party is an option that works well for families who want to get involved with the BSSF. In this option, the organization provides party favors and invitations for a birthday party with proceeds going to the Ben Stelter Centre for Proton Therapy and Neurosciences.
The other major options are hosting a lemonade stand or bottle drive, which are classic and approachable endeavors.
Other individual fundraising approaches are also possible to support creative interests and ideas.
The Individual Fundraiser program empowers youth to drive meaningful change, supporting childhood cancer initiatives and the development of Canada’s first Proton Therapy Centre.
