As the BSSF looks to expand their reach across Edmonton, the fundraiser is proud to announce the release of their official news site.
The news site will serve as a way to communicate ongoing projects, goals, and milestones as the organization undergoes their mission to increase awareness towards childhood cancer and raise money to bring Proton Therapy to Canada for the very first time.
Ben Stelter was an Edmonton Oilers mega fan who captured the city’s love in his time with the Edmonton Oilers and their team captain, Connor McDavid.
In 2022, Ben Stelter sadly passed away after a strong fight against cancer.
His legacy was continued with the Ben Stelter Fund in 2022, followed by the Ben Stelter Foundation & the Ben Stelter School Fundraiser in 2023.
The Ben Stelter School Fundraiser (BSSF) is Canada’s largest student-led multi-school fundraiser, based in Edmonton, Alberta.
All the proceeds go towards the Ben Stelter Centre for Proton Therapy and Neurosciences, which is a brand new proton therapy treatment centre currently being developed by the Ben Stelter Foundation. More information about the Ben Stelter School Fundraiser can be found here.
As of now, Canada is the only G8 country without access to Proton Therapy. Families in need of the treatment are forced to take on additional financial and emotional burden, and the need to travel to other countries, such as the United States, to access this treatment.
The centre is currently projected to open in 2028, right in the heart of Edmonton, Alberta.
As a team, we aim to provide a closer look into the workings of the BSSF through articles on school fundraising campaigns, team news, inspiring fundraising stories & BSSF updates.
We will analyze events and news from a third-party perspective, covering all the action and hard work that is part of the fundraiser. There are so many incredible stories on talent and leadership to be written, and we are excited to bring our individual perspectives to them.
