As the Ben Stelter School Fundraiser expands its team in preparation for its largest campaign to date, former McKernan student leader Alex Sokolovski has been named Director of Marketing for 2026.
Sokolovski is currently the youngest executive member of the Ben Stelter School Fundraiser. In the prior school year, he was directly involved with the fundraiser as a student leader for McKernan Junior High School, leading McKernan to raise $24500 and the fundraiser’s Most Money Raised Award.
“Alex’s experience leading the BSSF at McKernan is important because he already understands what to do to raise money in the BSSF, and what the student leader experience is like,” says Aariz Mawji, Founder & Director of BSSF. “Because of this, he can help us market and make the student leader experience better for 2026.” Mawji additionally describes Alex’s recruitment as “one of the best hiring decisions” the organization has ever made.
Members of the BSSF team also emphasized Sokolovski’s potential and impact.
“Alex is an excellent addition to our team,” adds Anandita Shah, Director of Operations. “His visions align perfectly with our long-term goals.”
Charlie Bordbandy, Social Media Manager of the BSSF, also praised the addition: “Alex has great potential, and I’m excited to work with him and see what he brings to our department.”
As a Director of Marketing, Alex will oversee outreach, sponsorships, and public-facing initiatives of the BSSF. He will additionally lead the marketing departments, including social media, promotions, and creative writing.

As the Ben Stelter School Fundraiser prepares for its upcoming fundraising season, Sokolovski will play a key Role in its mission to raise awareness for childhood cancer, fund Proton Therapy in Canada, and expand its reach across Edmonton schools.
