The Ben Stelter Foundation has become a widespread symbol of hope for families across Alberta; even the Prime Minister shares the sentiment.
After meeting with Aariz Mawji, Founder & Co-Director of the Ben Stelter School Fundraiser days before, Mark Carney acknowledged the Ben Stelter Foundation as one of the many instances of community support and unity during his speech at Edmonton’s Forever Canadian Rally on October 16th.
“You see it in how this city loves its own. How Ben Stelter’s favourite song “La Bamba” became the heartbeat of Edmonton during the Oilers’ Stanley Cup run a few years ago. How his family carries on his legacy, helping children fight cancer, giving hope to families walking that difficult path.” said Carney.

The mention of the foundation in the speech marks a special and meaningful moment for the organization, proving its heightened scope and increased impact to families and communities across the province.
Mawji additionally shared his thoughts on the significance of his experience meeting Carney.
“It was an honor to meet the Prime Minister and share the incredible story of my friend Ben Stelter with him, and talk about the incredible work the BSSF and Ben Stelter Foundation does. It means so much to me to see him continue to speak about it.”
The support of Prime Minister Mark Carney towards the BSF is ultimately a stepping stone towards further reach and further spread of compassion and support to those battling cancer.
